Steve is a Chartered Financial Consultant and Valancy is a dental hygienist and a certified group exercise and water fitness instructor.
Steve is a native Mainer and Valancy grew up in New Brunswick, Canada. We met at Sugarloaf Mountain when Valancy ended up in a ski lesson that Steve was teaching. There’s a good story here, ask Steve!
We have one son, who is a recent college graduate in Civil Engineering. Our son has played hockey since age 4 so these are our first winters in a long time, not spent living at the rink.
Steve’s connection to Old Orchard Beach began before he was even born. His parents met and fell in love at the end of the old world famous Old Orchard Beach pier dancing the night away to the sounds of Benny Goodman.
Growing up, Steve and his large extended French Canadian family from Lewiston, Maine did day trips to Old Orchard nearly every summer weekend. When the opportunity to purchase a beach house here came up it was an easy decision. He has owned the property at Old Orchard Beach since 1985 and, with Valancy’s help, continues to improve it every year.
Steve stumbled across the lakefront property while teaching in the local school district back in 1980. It’s location on the deepest end of the lake and the level/gentle sloping lot with 173′ of direct lakefront made it too good to pass up. He used his summer time off to build out the large garage into an in-law guest house, which allowed his parents to move into it when they retired in 1985. While constantly updating the property every year, it now bears little resemblance to the large chalet camp of 1980. After moving to Saco in 2006, we decided to share Grand View 14 as a lakefront rental property unlike any other you will find in the area.
